What This Program Does

How PTSD Service Dogs Change Lives

PTSD Service Dogs are specially trained to perform tasks that help individuals manage the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and trauma-related conditions. These dogs provide a constant, calming presence and are trained to intervene during moments of distress.

Specific tasks include deep pressure therapy, grounding during dissociative episodes, interrupting anxiety and panic attacks, creating space in crowded environments, alerting to approaching people, and performing room searches to help their handler feel safe.
