This week is Mental Health Week — a moment to recognize the important role our Accredited Facility Dogs play in supporting the well-being of those they work alongside.
DWW Kourt was placed with Lethbridge Police Service in 2022, where her role is dedicated solely to supporting the officers behind the badge. While much of policing focuses on serving the community, Kourt is there to care for the people doing that work.

Police calls can be unpredictable and, at times, incredibly difficult. Kourt is present for those moments that aren't always seen — whether that's sitting in on debrief meetings, being there after a tough call, or offering quiet support throughout the day.
Sometimes that looks like a calm, steady presence beside an officer. Other times, it's resting her head on someone's lap, heading out for a walk, or bringing a bit of lightness through play.
However it shows up, Kourt's role is simple and powerful: to help officers pause, process, and feel supported.
